Established in 2010 by artist Sue Dewhurst The Pop-Up Gallery is a whirlwind of creativity, bringing innovative artistic happenings to unusual venues across The Dales. The aims are to help Artistsreach new audiences, boost local economies and also engage this richly diverse community in all aspects of the creative process through hands-on Art workshops, festivals and exhibitions.
Whether working in clay or with paint, I apply the same principal of building up layers and texture. Using different thicknesses of paint, and utilizing collage, ink and pastel, I can create surfaceinterest and depth in the painting. By using clay as a canvas, I can build up the surface in various stages by using slips, oxides and glazes, often multi firing and adding to a piece until I am satisfied with the results.
Opened by Mackenzie and Susan, Arthaus gallery has remained the only gallery dedicated to Mackenzie's work. Even as an international artist now working from his Brighton studio, Mackenzie has alwayskept his ties with the North and stayed true to his roots which is reflected in the work he creates.
Rural Arts is an arts organisation based in Thirsk and working across North Yorkshire and the Tees Valley. The Courthouse is an arts centre in Thirsk with a gallery, shop, cafe, art studios andcomputer suite. Chantry House Gallery was established in 1980 and has the reputation of being one of the most interesting and affordable art galleries in North Yorkshire. Set in the historic and beautiful village ofRipley, home of Ripley Castle and just 3 miles north of Harrogate, it is a charming and idyllic location for a gallery. The gallery showcases a wealth of established northern artists together with a handful of carefully selected artists from further afield.
Opened in September 2005 and extended in 2009, Lund Gallery is the Studio Gallery of established lansdcape artist Debbie Loane. In addition to showing Debbie's own work, the Gallery takes pride inexhibiting what it believes to be the best contemporary arts, ceramics and crafts from across the UK for collectors to view and purchase. The gallery occupies converted barns on a smallholding 25 minutes drive north from York, just outside the market town of Easingwold.
