I am Richard Rowland, a mosaic artist based in Chatham, Kent. I design and make modern mosaic artworks for private homes and gardens, commercial premises and public sites. A good mosaic is a beautifulwork of art but mosaic has other special qualities to offer. A wide range of materials can be used in mosaic making, giving great variety of surface, texture and colour in both two and three dimensional work. Mosaics can be extremely tough and durable.

I take my inspiration from Nature, drawing and making prints of the birds, plants and animals I see around me everyday and sometimes those that are a little harder to find. Sketching from life is thestarting point of everything I do, it feeds both my drawing and printmaking. I am especially interested in birds, how our relationships with them shift over time, what we have lost and gained. Guest Artist at Gingerbread Gallery, Hadlow. Solo exhibition, Below 65 Gallery, Maidstone.

We want YOU to come in and meet us - and seewhere we end up. We started our project back in 2006 when we wanted to make use of the building that was due for demolition, and eight years later we are still here! This experiment has been hugely successful.
