At North House Gallery there are frequent and varied exhibitions of paintings, drawings, sculpture, original prints and books by modern and contemporary artists of East Anglian, national andinternational fame. North House Gallery was established in 1999 by Penelope Hughes-Stanton in the former studio of her father, the painter and wood-engraver Blair Hughes-Stanton.
Munnings (1878-1959) was an immensely successful, yet controversial, artist whose career spanned almost 70 years. He was not only a major figure in the great tradition of British equestrian art butalso celebrated for his depictions of scenes from English rural life.

Our programme of exhibitions, talks and events creates a platform for ideas to be exchanged andconnections to be made. We show international, contemporary art by established and emerging artists, historic figures who continue to inspire, and group shows relevant to current debate. Our artist-in-residence programme allows us to commission new works that respond to the world around us.
Cuckoo Farm Studios formed in 1992, in converted farm buildings on the northern outskirts of the historical town of Colchester. We support emerging talent through our Graduate Award Scheme, and wecontinue to develop artists through professional development.
The development includes a number of live/work units and commerical spaces some of which are now occupied by artists. As a result, a natural artistic hub is emerging and the main gallery space at KeelHouse, one of the live/work units has housed a number of successful exhibitions in the last few years. The Christmas Cornucopia are hugely successful exhibitions. Work is shown in a number of venues with a wide variety of beautiful hand-crafted gifts and artworks.
Our integrated programme of work includes projects, exhibitions and publications by established and emerging artists, as well as extensive learning opportunities and artists' support initiatives. Overthe last fifteen years firstsite has gained a strong reputation by presenting ambitious work to new audiences in the East of England and beyond.
