A great day out! The Wickerfish art studio is situated at the hugely popular 'Cedar Farm Galleries' in Mawdesley, Lancashire. It is a purpose built studio in which Ruth and Stuart display theirartwork and run successful art courses for adults. It was in Ruth's youngest daughter Bethany who came up with the studio name after a visit to a children's art course held here at Cedar Farm. She made a wicker fish sculpture, which can be seen hanging in the studio.

In the first of the Grundy's outdoor courtyard commissions, Simeon Barclay b. Huddersfield, 1975 has created a series of four digital collages, which welcome the visitor from the street. The fourimages, which might be seen as contemporary updates to seaside postcards of yore, each incorporate motifs that are resonant with different aspects of the town and its cultural life, from its architecture and landmarks, to the Seasider's football team to history and celebrity.

This form of art reveals expression, detail, feeling and above all colour, which to me is one of the most important aspects of this art form. The colours used are spirit colour and the main ingredientis shellac with which the boards are given many coats. I was a French polisher and antique restorer, having learnt the trade from my late father, so the use of these materials has come as second nature to me.

After the success of the last Lancashire Artists Network Open exhibition in 2013 and Oxheys Summer Open in 2014, it seemed a good idea to join forces and collaborate on one for 2015. All local andLancashire-based artists are welcome to submit work and everyone is invited to attend. We hope to see lots of our old friends and make some new ones - please do submit work to what will, we are sure, be a fantastic exhibition of Lancashire art.
