The Gallery was established in June 2003 and brings high quality work by internationally renowned and emerging artists to the region as well as exhibiting the work of local and regional artists.Exhibitions have included work by Picasso, Paula Rego, Frank Auerbach, Bridget Riley, Goya and Quentin Blake as well as work by artists living locally, among them, Ann Raby, Grazyna Whittle, Kyoko Takahashi and David Wright. In September 2012 Artsmill was awarded charitable status.

The gallery is small but lovely it has served the town of Todmorden and its many visitors well over the years as a source of unique gifts and original art.

The exhibition features the heritage of Brooke's Mill in Huddersfield, covering four centuries of working life. The Gallery is a based in the refurbished Spinning sheds in the old mill. With vintageimages, fabric samples, artifacts and oral history of mill workers memories. The exhibition celebrates the many generations who worked in the mill.
